Help the County Gather Broadband Information

by Jim Martin

High-speed Internet access is increasingly vital to local businesses and residents. Being online keeps us in touch with friends and family via social media and email and offers us online banking and on-demand television. Broadband provides faster, more convenient access to a huge array of other services. It should be obvious that slower connection speeds limit efficiency and productivity, and many in the county lack any connectivity.

The County of Santa Cruz has created a short survey to determine and define the Broadband needs of local residents and businesses. An understanding of demand for services will help the County work to expand Broadband access in the community.

This survey should take no longer than five minutes to complete. Please complete only one survey per household or business. (Please click on the links below identified as Residential or Business.) You must be aged 18 years or older to take part.

By completing this voluntary survey, you agree to allow the County of Santa Cruz hold and process all the data you provide to produce statistical information. Results will be used in two ways: 1) locations will be mapped to show unmet needs or demand for higher speed internet, 2) to communicate broadband needs to potential providers. No actual address information will appear on any map. Participation in the survey does not subscribe participants to new service or create any other obligations, nor does it guaranty that new Broadband service will be made available or that existing speeds will be improved. Theyhat all local residents and businesses will complete the survey to maximize the value of the data derived. Take the survey; encourage your friends, neighbors and colleagues to get involved.
